Yahoo removes six of its services

Yahoo begins spring with a large household, which will close five of its services by the end of April as Yahoo Deals for example, and a sixth in June.

Yahoo continues its spring cleaning in order to focus on its core products. This is why the U.S. has decided to close several of its services and portals by the end of April. It is first of all Yahoo Deals, provider of "tips" Yahoo Kids or the community calendar service Upcoming.yahoo.com, acquired in 2004.

 



These services will be closed on 30 April, when Yahoo will also end its SMS alerts that kept subscribers informed of the latest news. Yahoo mobile apps now offers the push, the competitor Google obviously wants to push this purpose. Finally, some Java (J2ME) applications for the "feature phone" will also be removed, such as Yahoo Mail and Messenger. However, these services will still be accessible via a browser, even if Yahoo does not hesitate to say that it is easier to use its dedicated smartphone applications.
