Motorola Mobility division of Google yesterday unveiled its long-awaited smartphone Moto X at a event focused on innovation, although its main features are similar to those of other Android devices. This model is equipped with a 4.7-inch screen and runs on Android 4.2.2, codenamed Jelly Bean (not 4.3 as the recent Nexus 7 tablet). It will be available in the United States in late August or early September for 199 $ with a two-year subscription at major U.S. operators. It will also be distributed in Canada and Latin America. An unlocked version will follow shortly after.

"This terminal is the first result of the investments made by Google and Motorola Mobility in technologies related to the design and natural interaction," said Dennis Woodside, CEO of Motorola Mobility, during the presentation. "This is the first product that was built from scratch since Google acquired Motorola Mobility," he added. Moto X, which weighs 132 grams, offers 24 hours of battery life, 13 hours of talk time. Users can achieve 1080p HD video through the rear camera of 10 megapixels. This smartphone also has a front camera of 2 megapixels. It has 16 or 32 GB of storage space depending on the version.

Similarities with other Android devices

If we conduct a thorough examination, we noted that the Moto X is very similar to other Android devices, including Ultra Maxx and Mini models will be available through Verizon Wireless. These smartphones include a processor, a camera and a similar screen as well as the characteristics of natural interaction. Its curved design can make it easier to handle than its competitors in the rectangular design. This smartphone is also highly customizable when ordering. A feature called Moto Maker allows users to choose colors for the shell and front panel. The latest Google and Motorola also has a "non-contact control," which allows it to respond to voice commands, even in standby mode, a function that is also present on other smartphones. It includes a chip X8 combining CPU and GPU.

Successful shots in low light    

 Another common feature with other smartphones is Active Display, in which certain information, such as the time and notifications are displayed on the screen when the phone is in standby mode. Users can see their e-mails, SMS, social networking notifications and calendar without putting the phone in active mode.

Finally, this model uses a technology called Quick-capture, which can take a picture without pressing a specific button on the screen. The camera automatically focuses and users can affect any part of the screen to take a picture. Moreover, its sensor can take pictures successful in low light conditions and less fuzzy Motorola noted.

Moto X with a wooden frame

Verizon will sell a version of Moto X for developers, which can be unlocked on the Motorola website. Its price has not been disclosed. The Developer Edition is also available on Motorola's website at a later date. The manufacturer is currently testing a Moto X with a wooden frame at the rear which could be launched in the fourth quarter of 2013. the Moto X will be manufactured in the United States.
