IDF13: Intel launches its 1500 Pro SSD with 20nm MLC flash
With SSD Pro 1500, Intel offers more security and lower standby power consumption.
On the occasion of the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), which opens in San Francisco, Intel renews its range of professional SSD. These flash storage units offer more security and will include management functions remotely. Intel intends the hardware business and offer in several form factors.
This family of SSD Professional occupies a place between SSD for datacenters and models for consumer machines. The SSD Pro 1500 Series, the first product family provided by Intel, is in form factor M.2 type for thin and light ultrabooks and form factor 2.5-inch hybrid machines laptop computer mid-mid-tablet and traditional PC. Their capacity is up to 480 GB of SSD Professional range is designed to facilitate the deployment and management, reduce downtime of equipment and invoice business. Security features should allow businesses to protect against data theft on machines that are lost or stolen.
Components MLC 20 nm
Operating NAND flash MLC components manufactured in 20 nanometers, the 1500 series uses a SandForce controller LSI announces with speeds of around 540 MB / s sequential read and 490 MB / s sequential write. The SSD 1500 Series includes 256-bit AES encryption and support management protocol encryption keys from Trusted Computing Group Opal. These SSDs can take advantage of the Intel Core vPro processors and specifications Opal suite for security and management.
The 1500 Series also includes three modes of standby, the DEVSLP mode, deeper, which makes totally off certain areas of the SSD. Thus, according to Intel, the M.2 version SSD Pro 1500 Series consumes 55 milliwatts in standby mode and only 200 microwatts in DEVSLP mode.
The SSD M.2 is available in versions 80 GB and 360 GB, and the 2.5-inch model is available with a capacity of 480 GB.
