Apple decided to build a new production plant in Mesa city, Arizona
The state of Arizona has announced that the California manufacturer had decided to build a new production plant in Mesa city, Arizona. There are 2000 jobs in the key and Apple will also build a center for production of solar energy to power the unit.
The relocation of production in the U.S. is one of the issues highlighted by Tim Cook since his arrival at the head of the company. If the iPhone and iPad are still produced in Asia by the usual sub-contractors such as Foxconn, some lines MacPro are now assembled in the USA and this in different places: Texas, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky. In total, there would be a dozen different production sites. Last month, Apple opened a new repair machines located in Pennsylvania, again with hundreds of new hires.
Arizona's new entity would aim to produce materials in sapphire, which is mainly used for making backups of the camera or to the start button of the iPhone 5S. This results from a recent agreement with GT Advanced Technologies company that will provide the sapphire Apple.
Demand components sapphire will increase by 50% by 2016 for this new entity located in the suburbs of Phoenix, there would be 2,000 jobs at stake: 700 to operate the plant and 1,300 indirect jobs. Apple said that the new manufacturing unit will operate with 100% renewable energy, the builder building a parallel solar station for providing electricity to the plant.
