Do Not Track : 8% of client PC users have Firefox set, 19% on Android

The willingness of users to have a Do Not Track feature is real. On the PC version of the browser, 8% of users have enabled DNT, and 19% of the Android version of Firefox. Enough to justify a little more the need to achieve a standard.

Mozilla is more than ever committed to the standardization of Do Not Track, a built-in browser which allows the user to express his opposition to the ad tracking.

If the standardization process goes to an impasse due to pressure from advertisers, the question for the editor to give up Firefox. According to him, the desire of users to have such a function is real.

The willingness of Internet users ignored

The development manager of Mozilla, Johnathan Nightingale, they are already 8% of PC client users have enabled Firefox Do Not Track - therefore voluntary action because the feature is not enabled by default, unlike Internet Explorer 10 .

The interest on Android still more significant according to Mozilla, because users of Android for Firefox are 19% have enable DNT in the browser.

But, for the moment, if this function exists in the major web browsers, it's not taken into account by the sites and advertising platforms. For DNT operates as a request sent from the browser to the site and indicating his opposition to the monitoring of its navigation, including targeted advertising.

The consideration of DNT is subject to the whims of the sites there is no obligation to respect the wishes of the user. And the impasse is the process of standardization of DNT does not contribute to the emergence of a common solution which would refer the market for online advertising.
