CES 2013: Samsung puts forward a smartphone with a flexible screen
We talk for several years but the first flexible screen smartphones arrive. Samsung has unveiled a prototype at the last CES.
During a keynote at CES 2013 organized, Samsung has demonstrated a flexible screen following the curves of a smartphone. This type of appliance leaves the field open to new uses by the South Korean manufacturer.
The demonstrator is a 5-inch smartphone showing a HD (720p) with a flexible OLED display Youm. This technology was presented at CES for the first time in 2011 in prototype form before this time contextualized.
For Samsung, it rhymes with flexible screen new uses, such as the ability to read messages or notifications on the edge of the unit (see illustration). These screens are also considered unbreakable, with a resolution of up to 300 ppi. After this demonstration, Samsung did not say if this type of technology will be marketed soon.
