Smartphones and 4G will pull the phone market
A smartphone sold in two by 2018 will be compatible 4G according to a study by ABI Research.
From 2014, smartphones will become the majority in phone sales worldwide, according to ABI Research. By 2018, 2.4 million units expected to be sold, or 69% of phone sales. Among them, 50% should be compatible 4G.
Since 2010, Samsung has continued to gain market share in the smartphone segment, from 8% to over 30% in 2012. According to ABI Research, sales of Apple with its iPhone should represent only about 22% of the market in 2013, and then stagnate until 2018.
In conjunction to the development of compatible devices 4G, another big trend for the next few years the growing share of low-cost smartphones. ABI Research estimates that 62% of smartphones sold in 2018 should be in the symbolic 250 $.
