Intel appointed Brian Krzanich CEO
Brian Krzanich will become, from 16 May the new general manager of Intel. After more than 30 years in the company, he will succeed Paul Otellini.
At 52 and after 31 years of collaboration with the company, Brian Krzanich will become the new CEO of Intel Paul Otellini succeeding who held the position since 2005. According to the official statement, it should continue its collaboration with Intel as a consultant and not as a member of the Board.
Brian Krzanich will be assisted by Renée James, currently based in the Software division. According to the Chairman of the Board, the appointment marks a willingness to make way for a new generation of leaders: "It is time to assign the lead to a new generation, in a period of radical change for the industry.
Brian Krzanich will soon become the sixth CEO of Intel. He had joined the company in 1982 as an engineer. Between 1997 and 2001, he led the Intel factory FAB 17 and became the architect of the transition to 130nm between 2001 and 2003. He then took responsibility for the phases of assembly and testing before being propelled manufacturing.
Investors had favored the hypothesis an external recruitment but the market did not sanction this new appointment provided for this Thursday on Wall Street, the stock as the company posted a slight increase.
