Russian portal Mail.ru abandons Google
The important Russian web portal Mail.ru has officially announced that Google finally abandoned, confirming rumors since last year about the cancellation of the contract with the U.S. search engine.
Users of the web portal "Mail.ru" will no longer offer any search from Google: because the Russian portal announced that it was abandoning the American search engine, as announced by the website The Next web. In November last year already, there were rumors suggesting that Mail.ru planned to cancel its contract with Google. It is now official.
Mail.ru has existed since 1998, it offers online services, including social networks (Odnoklassniki and My World), instant messaging (Mail.ru Agent and ICQ), online games, browser, and a motor grown search in recent years. The portal works for years, with many other companies. Originally, there was Google and Mail.ru signed with the Russian search engine Yandex, then, in August 2010, the portal returns to Google. Mail.ru meets about 86% of Russian Internet users. Research on the site attracts about 39.5 million visitors per month.
The Russian company and wants to show his own independence by passing the giant: "It is interesting to note that there are fewer countries with their own search engines today than countries with their own space program," says Dmitry Grishin, co-founder and CEO of Mail.Ru Group. Indeed, only five countries in the world (the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic, China and South Korea) are the original effective search engine land.
At this moment the number of searches from the engine developed by Mail.ru is the third in the ranking of research in the country but the portal intends to improve this situation. The team develops its search engine from 15 to 200 people in recent years. The amount of indexed documents has increased from 5 to 10 billion documents. For all this, the firm has at its disposal several thousand servers.
