Google and HP launch Chromebook

HP has partnered with Google to design the Chromebook 11, a 11.6-inch laptop running Chrome OS. It will be available on October 20 in the United States and the United Kingdom.

For 279 $ excluding tax, 11 Chromebook co-developed by Google and HP can be powered by the same charger that is used for tablets and Android smartphones via its micro-USB adapter. This type of laptop that runs Chrome OS is designed for users who work on the Internet. Equipped with a 11.6-inch slab, it weighs only 1.04 kg, making it one of the lightest notebooks on the market. "When you're traveling, you do not need to put an extra charger in your bag," said Caesar Sengupta, vice president of product management at Google in a blog post.

This PC has a battery life of 6.5 hours. It is based on a Samsung Exynos processor clocked at 1.7GHz ARM architecture, and has a capacity of 16 GB of storage on SSD and 2GB DDR3 RAM, supplemented with 100 GB of storage in the cloud for two years at no additional cost. The screen displays images in 1366 x 768 pixels. Other features of this Chromebook include a webcam, the WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connections.

In general the price of Chromebooks 199 $ excluding tax varies for entry-level models Acer C7 1299 $ excluding tax for the high-end pixel Google model. Versions with Intel chips were made by Toshiba, Hewlett-Packard and Acer last month and should be delivered by the end of this year. Lenovo also sells a Chromebook for particular schools. The Chromebook 11 will be available on October 20 via Best Buy and Amazon.com in the U.S., and retailers such as PC World in the UK. It will be available in other countries over the Christmas holidays.
