Google confirmed its project showrooms on floating barges

The floating platform that Google is building in San Francisco Bay is ultimately a huge "showroom" which will house an "interactive space". It is therefore not a green data-center, as some thought.

"While it is still early and things can change, we plan to use the barge as an interactive space where people can learn about new technologies," said Google. The first barge was spotted near Treasure Island. It is an artificial island located between San Francisco and Oakland in the San Francisco Bay.

It seems that visitors can see and test the Google Glass for example, but also many products out of Google labs and even some prototypes, Note that a second barge of the same type is anchored on the east coast of the United States in Portland, Maine.
