Service Pack 1 for Office 2013 will arrive early next year

Microsoft recently reported on the imminent arrival of Service Pack 1 for Office 2013. If such packages are often concentrates all updates outings recently, they sometimes include new features. This is the case for the office suite, including the program better compatibility with Windows 8.1.

Microsoft gave it a few days ago a first list expected for Service Pack 1 of Office 2013 news. Although the suite has received numerous updates since its release, sometimes for corrections, sometimes for the most various improvements, it has so far not received major contributions. The first pack, expected early next year, should be the opportunity to catch up.

First important point, improved compatibility with Windows 8.1. This item has not yet been detailed, but at least we can make a logical assumption: support rich notifications. A contribution to offset the loss of productivity when using Outlook on Windows 8 as the notifications no longer allow simple actions such as deleting or marking with a flag. However, notifications have just received in Windows 8.1 and Skype displaying buttons to answer or reject an incoming call.

Another contribution of weight, even if it is here mainly to fill a delay: support for data encryption S / MIME on all products related to Office. Outlook 2013 already supports this safety standard, but not OWA, which  become consistent in a few months. The support will be extended to all Exchange ActiveSync clients. 

In addition to performance improvements and new features that have not yet been detailed for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access or Outlook 2013 applications, Microsoft added support for the latest revisions Exchange and SharePoint to Windows Server 2012 R2. An Exchange 2013 server can also be configured Edge Transport role.

  

The update will be particularly important, not least for the widespread support S / MIME. An ad that is also following another: the options for encrypting messages included in some formulas Office 365 subscriptions. We just regret that S / MIME, yet a standard, is present only in Outlook 2013.
