Traffic information in real time on the slopes of Zermatt
Sports enthusiasts of Valais ski resort will be informed of the dangers of avalanche or temperatures with large screens installed on the slopes.
Zermatt Bergbahnen AG, which manages the ski lifts of the Valais resort, with its avenues of digital screens. As part of a pilot project, "very modern information systems" were installed just in time for the opening of the season.
Lovers of winter sports will be informed in real time on trail conditions, temperatures, wind speed and avalanche danger through screens 46 inches. Movies and clips webcam broadcast at the ski most likely to make the crowd wait. Thanks to a special anti-reflective glass protection, information should remain readable even in strong sun, says the firm. The case, meanwhile, is conditioned to protect the screen from extreme temperatures.
Complex installation To complete this pilot project, Zermatt Bergbahnen mandated the Aargau company richnerstutz and Netvico German company. "In the area of digital screens, there are no comparable reference project," says Peter Ellensohr, head of digital communication project at richnerstutz.
The installation of the display has proved complex. The large digital display of three by two meters had to be transported by helicopter, hanging from a rope 80 meters to its site. A backhoe brought onto the premises dug the foundations of the pillar.
