Online Storage: Canonical will close Ubuntu One on July 31
Canonical, official sponsor of the Ubuntu Linux distribution, has announced the upcoming closure of its online storage service Ubuntu One. Another victim of the tough competition among providers of online services on this niche.
DropBox, and Box.com Google Drive, offers storage services and file sharing online has expanded considerably in recent years.
Canonical announced that it will refocus on its core business: namely convergence using the Ubuntu operating system on multiple devices: PCs, smartphones and tablets.

Launching in 2009 "Ubuntu One", its own synchronization service platform files (PC, Linuex, Android and iOS), Canonical took the wave at the right time. But its expandable to 20 GB with a sponsorship offer free standard (5 GB of storage), has not changed, and no longer stands today offers to competing services, which offer up to 50GB of free storage or more.
The stored contents will be deleted on August 1, 2014
"Ubuntu One will not be available from 1 June 2014. Content stored by users remain available for download until July 31, before being deleted" announced CEO of Canonical Jane Silber.
