Facebook Launches Mentions, a tool for e-reputation reserved for VIP

Facebook unveils a new tool. "Mentions" will be used for VIP, to interact with their fans and manage their reputation on the web.

Creative Labs, the internal start-up to Facebook for the development of new services. A few weeks after the release of SlingShot, the team unveiled a new program called Mentions. 

This allows Twitter-like VIPs "to discover and join the conversations on Facebook." It is not for the common man, but the official profiles of celebrities and other opinion leaders. This tool will check the discussions and publications containing a reference to the artist, athlete and any other "person of influence". This can then engage in conversation with his fans. Facebook also gives the possibility to organize sessions of questions / answers via mentions.

It also optimizes the storytelling of our favorite stars, highlighting their publications, their photos and videos. All this in order to "sell the dream" to fans and lead them to believe that there is a real closeness between them and their idol. While some predict that young desert massive social network, Facebook seems to find a parade by promising the opportunity to interact directly with their favorite stars.

 

Mentions is currently only available in the United States, tested by celebrities such as singer Mariah Carey, actress Whoopi Goldberg or basketball player Harrison Barnes. At the writing of The Computer, we have not had access to mentions, but it will be soon.
