Google simplify Internet of Things with Physical Web
Google unveil Physical Web. The project aims to facilitate the link between smartphones and connected objects, without downloading a dedicated app. Physical Web is shared as an open source form.
With Physical Web, Google want to go technology-Bluetooth low energy (BLE), which enables communication within 30 meters, a communications protocol for connecting mobile and object.
Google plans to use URL objects. Scott Jenson said "We think we need to use any physical object connected and interact with that object without having to go first through an application." The Google engineer says that the user experience should be simple "as in a web browser: just click and use."
Still experimental, Physical Web project is proposed on Github platform, open source. Developers are welcome, according to Scott Jenson, in order to "test the protocol and share their impressions."
It is not the first time Google shows an interest in connected objects. The US company has bought Lift Labs, which developed smart cover for patients.
