Google unveiled Android 8.0 Oreo
Google presented the latest iteration of its mobile OS, Android 8.0 Oreo, named of the famous little black and white cookie.
with a new architecture consisting of separating the Android framework from the implementation of the terminal manufacturer by linking them through a stable provider interface allowing OEMs to update the Android framework without Having to touch the code added by the manufacturers.
Users will be entitled to some new features and enhancements. The most notable is the introduction of the Picture-to-Picture, a split-screen system allowing to perform two tasks at the same time, to consult its agenda and to discuss in video on Whatsapp for example.
The boot time of the system will also be shortened and the opening of apps will become faster. Android Oreo aims to be more efficient in terms of resource management, in particular on how apps work in the background and limiting the frequency of geolocation updates in the background.
Google has integrated its Google Play Protect system into Android 8. It will literally monitor the sources of third-party apps that the user will install, requiring authorization for each source, including whether it is a Google service such as Chrome and Gmail.
The new version will be pushed on the Pixel, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, 6P and Player. Google also informs working with Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global Home of Nokia Phones, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp and Sony.
