Nvidia announced DRIVE PX Pegasus for autonomous cars
After presenting the Volta platform last May, Nvidia is thinking about artificial intelligence and deep learning applications and is putting on the cover and raising the veil on Drive PX Pegasus. Described as the "first computer of artificial intelligence", it works with the parallel computing platform CUDA and would be ten times more powerful than the previous generation PX 2, capable of handling up to 320 trillion operations per second.
Nvidia explains that it is able to offer equipment that will enable manufacturers to create autonomous cars of level 5. This corresponds to the highest level: 100% autonomy. Beyond that, the Drive PX Pegasus platform is also a true heading in the sense that it is compact and more accessible from a pricing point of view, thus providing manufacturers with the means to accelerate their searches.
Nvidia already has 25 partners working on "robotaxis", which will be true technological gold mines: high-resolution perception, 360 ° cameras, location with a precision of less than one centimeter, environmental tracking system, route planning. Nvidia said: "All of these treatments have to be performed at multiple levels of redundancy to ensure the highest level of security".
